With the official launch of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT GPUs finally right around the corner, it looks like performance leaks are picking up. While we already got a sneak peek at the performance of the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT earlier this year.
Now, a leak shared by @GawroskiT on X indicates that the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT will fall just shy of matching the RX 7900 XTX. The benchmark result screenshots show that the tested device is the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, but the PCI ID suggests that this is, in fact, an RDNA GPU instead.
In the leaked benchmark, the 9070 XT scored a respectable 7,931 points in the 4K FurMark OpenGL benchmark. For comparison, Geeks3D has scores for the RX 7900 XTX coming in at around 8000 points, with the top 7900 XTX scoring 8,030 points and the next-best one coming in at 7,325. The RX 7900 XT, on the other hand, scores around 5,973 points, making the RX 9070 XT a whopping 33% faster than the 7900 XT and over 65% faster than the RX 7800 XT.
The RX 7900 XT launched with an MSRP of $899, and recent leaks tout a $650 MSRP for the incoming RX 9070 XT, meaning the RX 9070 XT might actually be a significant step up in value compared the RX 7900 XT — as long as AMD can actually get GPUs into the hands of consumers at MSRP. It's also worth noting that this benchmark was likely conducted with pre-launch drivers, meaning more polished drivers at and after launch could improve performance further.
The aforementioned tests were also conducted with an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU, which is slated to launch next month to replace the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, which still retails for $740 on Amazon.
