An X user has posted what looks like retail packaging of PowerColor's Radeon RX 9070 XT Red Devil variant. It comes overclocked out of the factory and often requires more power than regular variants. RDNA 4, however, will be quite the power hog once you push its clocks up.
Apparently, the GPU demands a whopping 900 Watt PSU to run properly. That is 100 Watts above what a last-gen Radeon RX 7900 XTX with 96 CUs requires. But, this is the exception and not the norm. In reality, you can probably get away with an 800 Watt or even 700 Watt PSU for your Radeon RX 9070 XT because a previous leak said its TDP will hover around the 300 Watt range.
AMD's Frank Azor chimed in on the same thread and said, "There will be 9070 XT cards available at launch that will require lower minimum power supply wattages". He also took a potshot at by Nvidia and assured users AMD would stick with 8-pin power connectors for most versions. But, some cards with higher power requirements will likely pivot tot he problematic 12-pin cables.
Of late, Frank has been actively participating in the discourse on RDNA 4. Just yesterday, he debunked an earlier rumour about there being a 32 GB RX 9070 XT variant. Either way, we have to wait for just two weeks for AMD's February 28 event for the Radeon 9000 series.
