YI (or Xiaoyi) is a company known for camera-related product and accessories, including dash-cams. Its newest version of these is the Nightscape, a 1080p, Wi-Fi enabled device with a 140-degree field of view. It also integrates Sony's STARVIS technology for improved low-light imaging.

YI - also known as Xiaoyi - is a company that makes products such as action cameras and dash cameras. The newest form of the latter has just been released. The Nightscape records its footage at 1080p, and has inbuilt Wi-Fi so that the user can connect it to their phone via an iOS or Android app. These are not the new device's most interesting features, however.

The YI Nightscape also boasts STARVIS, a CMOS platform developed by Sony to pick up much more color and detail in lower light compared to conventional alternatives. YI claims that it has combined the technology with a 6-lens system in the new dash cam in order to enhance details and clarity in its recordings. In addition, the Nightscape has been designed without a battery.

YI has replaced this component of most dash cams with capacitors that charge directly off a car while the vehicle is operational. The company claims that this solves a common problem with these devices: namely that they may malfunction in the presence of extreme conditions. The Nightscape, on the other hand, is rated to work at temperatures between -22 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit due to its lack of a battery.

Its maker also claims that this charging solution makes the dash-cam less bulky and more stylish compared to other competing models. It also has a 2.4-inch LCD screen and takes class 10 microSD cards (which are not included in the box). The YI Nightscape is available now on Amazon.com for a price of US$64.99.
