Garmin has begun rolling out a new feature to many of its current-generation smartwatches. Distributed through Garmin Connect rather than a firmware update, the new feature is related to tracking energy and recovery levels.

Garmin has pushed numerous updates to its current smartwatch product stack of late. For example, the company detailed its March 2024 feature update last week. Shortly after that, it returned to distributing new beta firmware for the likes of the Venu 3, Vivoactive 5 and Fenix 7, among others. In short, the latter received more changes than the Venu 3 or Vivoactive 5.

However, it turns out that Garmin has introduced a new feature that it has not included in any official changelog. According to various sources, the company has enabled the manual addition of nap data within Garmin Connect. Additionally, it is possible to edit naps or remove ones that have been incorrectly detected.

Please note that not all recent Garmin smartwatches support nap detection. In fact, the company only started taking the restorative effect of naps into account late last year with the release of the Venu 3 series. At any rate, it is currently unclear whether Garmin is rolling out this feature gradually or all at once. For reference, you can check whether the company has pushed the new nap editing feature by heading to the Garmin Connect smartphone app and then navigating to its dedicated naps section.
