Zotac has followed through on its promise to bring a new gaming handheld to CES 2025 this week. While the company has not shared anything across its social media channels yet, the likes of TechPowerUP were able to see a working prototype in person. Zotac was willing to part with a few specifications too, evidence of which we have embedded below.
For instance, the next Zone gaming handheld will utilise a Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU based on AMD's RDNA 3.5 and Zen 5 architectures. The device will contain the Radeon 890M iGPU too, as well as 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 1 TB M.2 2280 SSD. The second-generation model may cover over its predecessor's 7-inch AMOLED display though, which impressed us when we reviewed it last year.
A 48.5 Wh battery will return as well for a capacity that is smaller than all modern Windows gaming handhelds apart from the original Asus ROG Ally (curr. $444.99 on Amazon). Zotac only showed its new Zone gaming handheld in a white colourway too, possibly to help distinguish it from last year's otherwise identical-looking predecessor. At this stage, it remains to be seen whether the grey finish will get another run out at this stage when Zotac launches its new Zone 'later this year'.
