A few days ago, Japanese carrier au by KDDI confirmed that the Sony Xperia 1 II would go on sale in Sony's home country on May 22. We took that to mean that the phone would be making its way to the US shortly, and it was actually listed on B&H for pre-orders—albeit for a while.
The B&H page for the Xperia 1 II listed the phone as available on pre-order, with a massive US$1200 price tag. Interestingly, though, all of that has been taken down, and the page now only gives an option to notify interested parties when the phone becomes available. We're not sure why B&H took down the listing; though it's most likely because it wasn't supposed to go live at the time.
The Xperia 1 II at US$1200 is a tricky proposition, as that positions it directly against the Galaxy S20+, which can probably be found for slightly cheaper these days. That said, the Xperia 1 II is one of the few flagships on the market that retains a headphone jack, and eschews any display intrusion. It's bound to have plenty of takers.
