The Xperia 1 II was unveiled back in February, virtually alongside the LG V60 ThinQ and Samsung Galaxy S20 series. While those phones have since gone on sale, the Xperia 1 II is biding its time, and new information points towards the phone remaining unavailable for a while yet.

The Sony Xperia 1 II was unveiled months ago at MWC. Earlier this week, word on the grapevine claimed the phone could finally be set for launch, but new information has all but paid to the chances of that happening.

Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo initially listed the Xperia 1 II for an April release, but has now changed its listing, with the phone currently penned down to go on sale in late May. That also matches up with the phone's listing on another Japanese carrier, au by KDDI.

This shouldn't come as a shock to most, considering the fact that the Xperia 10 II isn't expected to start shipping until June. Sony also has a reputation for taking ages between unveiling a phone and having it available for purchase. The current global crisis probably doesn't help issues either.

Seeing as Sony is a Japanese company and carriers in Japan are listing the Xperia 1 II with a late May launch, we'd be surprised if the phone got to the rest of the world before June.
