Xiaomi Smart Door Lock E20 Wi-Fi version arrives as new model with fingerprint scanner
The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock E20 Wi-Fi version is now crowdfunding in China. The gadget provides multiple ways to unlock your door, including an integrated fingerprint scanner, with 99.2% accuracy and a 0.5 second read time. Alternatively, you can use various types of passwords, NFC, Bluetooth or a physical key.
You can view activity from the Smart Door Lock E20 in the accompanying app, alongside adjusting settings. Plus, abnormal events such as the door being ajar, multiple failed unlocking attempts or the lock being broken are flagged. The device supports Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth 5.3, compatible with the Mijia smart home ecosystem. This lets you trigger devices with the lock, such as switching off lights when you leave the house. Other features of the gadget include an integrated smart doorbell, a class C lock cylinder and an operational temperature range of -25 to 55°C (~-13 to 131°F). The lock has a 15-month expected runtime on a single charge, recharging via USB-C, and measures 407 x 77 x 23.2 mm (16.0 x 3.0 x 0.9-in).
You can now pledge 1,049 yuan (~US$143) to the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock E20 Wi-Fi version’s crowdfunding campaign in China to receive the gadget. Shipping is due to start immediately after the project ends on October 25. The gadget is expected to retail for 1,299 yuan (~US$178), meaning early customers save 250 yuan (~US$34). At the time of writing, 53% of the desired funds have been raised, around 53,000 yuan (~US$7,200). It remains unclear whether Xiaomi intends to launch the device in other countries.
