Xiaomi Linptech Smart Curtain Motor C4 now crowdfunding in China
The Xiaomi Linptech Smart Curtain Motor C4 is currently crowdfunding in China. You can use the gadget to open or close your curtains remotely. Control options include voice commands, the Xiaomi app, where you can also set a specific opening position, a Bluetooth smart switch, or gently tugging the fabric.
The Smart Curtain Motor C4 is battery-powered and recharges via a solar panel mounted to the window. According to Linptech, ten hours of sunshine should allow you to open and close the curtain twice a day. Alternatively, you can charge the power pack via USB-C. The gadget is compatible with the Mijia smart home ecosystem, meaning you can link it with other devices in smart home scenes; for example, a “bedtime” scene could involve turning off the lights and closing the curtains. The C4 is powered by a quiet motor, delivering 1.2 Nm torque and generating under 32 dB noise, suitable for curtains weighing up to 50 kg (~110 lbs).
You can customize the length of the telescopic track to suit your window, with 1.8-3 m (~5.9-9.8 ft) and 2.5-4.5 m (~8.2-14.8 ft) versions of the product. You can now support the Xiaomi Linptech Smart Curtain Motor C4 by pledging 799 yuan (~US$109) to the crowdfunding campaign; the gadget will retail for 1,099 yuan (~US$150), meaning these early customers save 300 yuan (~US$41). The campaign ends on October 31, with shipping starting before November 29. Whether or not the smart curtain device will launch in other markets remains to be seen.
