Xiaomi has released a stable build of MIUI 11 for the Redmi 7, but perhaps not the version for which people had hoped. While other devices in the first phase of the MIUI 11 rollout are receiving Android 10-based builds, the Redmi 7 is getting Android 9.0 Pie instead. The same goes for the Redmi 7a and Redmi K20 too.

MIUI 11 does not always mean Android 10, apparently. While Xiaomi is readying the latest version of Android for some devices like the Mi Mix 3 and the Mi 9 SE, it is only bringing Android 9.0 Pie to other handsets.

The Redmi 7 has now started receiving MIUI 11 too, but its version is only based on Android 9.0 Pie. The 1.7 GB system update has gone live in Europe and should arrive over the air (OTA) in the coming days and weeks. The update, called MIUI V11.0.3.0PFLEUXM, removes visual clutter and improve touch controls among other changes. The Redmi K20 and Redmi 7a have received a comparable update too, the full changelog of which you can read here.

The Redmi 7 is one of thirteen devices to receive MIUI 11 this month, although some of those in that list are being upgraded to Android 10 builds, like the Mi Mix 3 and Mi 9 SE. The company is dividing the rollout into three phases, the delineation of which you can view at the bottom of the MIUI website. Xiaomi is yet to confirm the release dates of Phase 2 and Phase 3, though.
