Stable Android 10 update arrives for the Xiaomi Redmi 7
A few days ago, we published a report citing the rollout of the May security patch to the Redmi 7 around the world. Well, it would appear that the update has come with a surprise in other regions—in the form of Android 10.
Yes, Android 10 has finally arrived for the Redmi 7. The update began rolling out in China yesterday, with the software version number "MIUI 184.108.40.206.QFLCNXM". As evident from that code, the update is for the Chinese model of the phone and is based on MIUI 11, not MIUI 12. Xiaomi is yet to begin the MIUI 12 rollout for its older mid-range phones. The update weighs a heavy 2.0 GB.
While this update is only rolling out in China, we expect a global release in the coming weeks. It only took two weeks for the Redmi 7A's Android 10 update to spread from China to the rest of the world, for example.
It's been a good couple of weeks for Xiaomi phones. Over the past month, the company has sent out Android 10 updates to the Redmi 7A and Redmi Note 7 Pro. The Redmi 7 follows that trend, which leaves the Redmi Note 7 as the last in line. Anytime now, Xiaomi.
