ViewSonic X1 and X2 become world-first TÜV SÜD Low Blue Light Certified projectors

The electronics safety and standards authority TÜV SÜD has announced that it has started subjecting projectors to rigorous testing for the hot topic of potentially harmful blue light emissions, as is done with monitors and PC screens. This process has resulted in a new certification for eye protection with which many OEMs might start touting their current and future models for enhanced viewer comfort over time.

Then again, those companies will now have to line up behind ViewSonic to do so. The OEM has announced that its X1 and X2 projectors have been the first to pass this new gauntlet of independent testing. ViewSonic asserts that, according to its TÜV SÜD test results, the DLP machines have a "blue light ratio" that is lower than that of "other LED projectors", which, apparently, stands around 40%.

Therefore, the OEM may now throw the X-series' projectors' new eye-health-protection rating in with their Harman Kardon-branded in-built audio system, USB type-C support and 1.2x optical zoom. The X1 and shorter-throw X2 both started at over US$1,000, but are discounted by up to 14% on Amazon right now.
