A brief X post from a well-known industry insider, containing just two letters, is sparking speculation about the Nintendo Switch 2 and its possible first-party titles.

Nintendo has confirmed a successor to the Switch (available for $299 on Amazon) but has revealed few details. The biggest questions remain: When will the Switch 2 launch, how much will it cost and which games will be available at release? The new console isn’t expected before June 2025. A recent leak suggests a price range of $350 to $399.

Fans can almost certainly look forward to racing in Mario Kart 9 after the Switch 2 launches. Now, there's hope that Super Smash Bros. might also be ready in time, bringing epic battles between gaming legends. This speculation stems from an X post by Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai, which consists of just one cryptic two-letter word: "Oh!"

As the creator and longtime director of the Super Smash Bros. series, Sakurai likely has deep insights into the franchise’s development. While he doesn’t speak directly for Nintendo, his brief post from February 5 is widely seen as a hint that a new entry in the popular fighting series could be coming to the Switch 2 – possibly even at launch. That wouldn’t be surprising, as a Super Smash Bros. title would be a powerful way for Nintendo to draw attention to its new console.

Discussions on X are already in full swing. Optimistic fans believe development is well underway and are speculating about new fighters, including Shadow the Hedgehog or characters from Astral Chain. Others remain skeptical, predicting a new game no sooner than 2028. Whether these hopes will come true might be revealed at the next Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025.
