While the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 have dominated the headlines, there is now more confirmation of an RTX 5070 Ti release date. The French retailer TopAchat has listed several of the GPUs scheduled to launch on February 20th. After clicking on each link, buyers are tipped off that the graphics cards will be available at 3 p.m. TopAchat doesn't have any RTX 5070 product pages, but the RTX 50 series cards are expected in stock before the month ends.
At U.S. retailers, the lowest-priced RTX 5070 Ti models will sell for $750. However, with the short supply of other RTX 50 series graphics cards, expectations are low for widespread availability. That could send prices of the RTX 5070 Ti well above MSRP levels. Nvidia also has made some lofty promises about the performance of the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070.
A minimal GPU upgrade on paper
One of Jensen Huang's boldest claims at CES 2025 was that the $549 RTX 5070 would offer performance that compares to the RTX 4090. Considering that the RTX 5070 is priced at $1050 less, buyers were skeptical. Much of the appeal of the lower-end RTX 50 series GPUs rests on DLSS 4, which introduces Multi Frame Generation. Exclusive to Nvidia Blackwell graphics cards, the technology uses AI to boost frame rates more efficiently.
As tempting as the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 sound, their raw power isn't a huge leap from previous-generation GPUs. The RTX 5070 Ti includes 8,960 CUDA cores and 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM, compared to the 4070 Ti's 7,680 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6X memory. Meanwhile, the RTX 5070's 6,144 CUDA cores only marginally improve on the RTX 4070, with the same 12GB of VRAM but upgraded to GDDR7. Both graphics cards rely on Multi Frame Generation to compete with pricier options.
So far, opinions are mixed on whether Nvidia's latest advancements warrant investing in the RTX 50 series. Games have to support the more powerful AI upscaling with the risk of added latency and graphical artifacts. Still, at least until the RTX 5060/5060 Ti arrives potentially in March, the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti are the most economical pathways to the full DLSS 4 experience.
