With 65 "very positive" reviews so far, Aethermancer is off to a great start. Unleashed yesterday on Steam in a public demo, this title from German indie developer moi rai games brings together monster taming and the roguelite formula in strategic 3v3 turn-based battles. The full game will hit Windows, macOS, and SteamOS+Linux.

Released by moi rai games in 2020, Monster Sanctuary has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from players, and now the German indie developer is back with another promising title. While Monster Sanctuary combined monster taming and metroidvania, Aethermancer brings together monster taming and the roguelite formula in a mix that promises to be at least as successful as its predecessor.

The Aethermancer public demo surfaced on Steam yesterday and has been receiving only positive reviews so far. The official description reads the following:

"Become the Aethermancer and fight alongside mythical creatures. Explore the ever-changing Fractured Ruins, plan your moves in challenging turn-based battles, and watch your Monsters grow stronger from previous lives and defy death!"

The list of features is quite interesting, including unique elemental skills for each monster, which can be upgraded, a procedurally generated world to explore, strategic 3v3 turn-based battles, unlockable player classes, and more. The number of monsters is around 50 at this time and will most likely increase with future updates.

The launch date of the full game has not been released yet, but it is certain that it will hit the same platforms as its predecessor, namely Windows, macOS, and SteamOS+Linux. Those interested in this title should keep an eye on the official Steam page of the game, which is different from the one hosting the aforementioned public demo. The system requirements are very modest, basically just 2 GB of memory and a dual-core processor across all platforms, alongside virtually any video card released in the last decade.
