Turn The TV Off feels like an ode to social media. Conveying the nightmare of seeing a dank meme stuffed into your timeline endlessly as you wade through its inescapable jaws. The game itself is pretty cool though.
You start off as someone who scoffs at the idea of The Boogeyman. For reasons unexplained, you decide to speak his name and like all good horror stories, wake up in a nightmarish prison. There is a familiar face in the cell next to you.
As you gather your wits, you realize you must "Turn The TV's Off" that play the song on a loop to gain access to new areas. That's about it. For 20 minutes you run around this maze-like location, being chased by a giant mustard bottle while solving puzzles and getting jump scared by a blaring air horn.
Some neat little surprises keep you on your toes and prevent things from getting stale. You also got to hand it to the dev for making an actual game out of this. This could have been easy meme bait but the level design actually feels like there was some thought put into it.
For what it's worth, it's a solid bite-sized adventure that is completely free to download and play.
