The Half-Life remake Black Mesa boasts outstanding ratings on Steam, with 95% positive feedback from over 100,000 reviews. Expectations for a new title from the U.S.-based developers are understandably high. Crowbar Collective's upcoming game, Rogue Point, marks their first original project in over a decade and is being developed in collaboration with publisher Team17. Early Access is scheduled to launch in 2025.
The game begins with the death of the CEO - the wealthiest man in the world. Now unscrupulous corporations, who can order mercenary armies like a pizza via the MERX app, are trying to take over his empire. Only Rogue Point - an independent vigilante group - stands in their way.
As the name suggests, the game focuses on roguelike elements. Players can choose from four different maps: Airport, Shopping Center, Office and Oil Platform. The "Parametric Design System" changes the maps dynamically with each run. Players fight cooperatively against enemy mercenaries to regain control of the contested areas. Alongside its campaign, Rogue Point will include a series of especially challenging endgame missions. At launch, players can also look forward to 22 weapons, 25 attachments, and 55 cosmetic items.
On Reddit, the mood is predominantly positive. Many users welcome the innovative combination of tactical shooter and roguelite elements and draw comparisons to games such as Ready or Not or Back 4 Blood. However, some Redditors feel it's a shame that Crowbar Collective is shifting away from single-player shooters like Black Mesa.
