Steam Controller release date revealed as another review leaks online

It looks like more details about the upcoming Steam Controller have surfaced ahead of its official announcement. Just recently, a full review of the controller was accidentally posted online, giving fans an early look at what to expect and its price. And now, it seems like another review has given away its release date.
The leak comes from Japanese gaming website 4Gamer, which briefly published a review of the controller before taking it down. While the page now appears as “hidden,” it was already indexed by Google, allowing parts of the text to be seen. And according to the translated content, the new Steam Controller will release in Japan on May 4.
While this date hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, it lines up with a recent report from Insider Gaming, which suggests that Valve is getting ready to reveal more details very soon. If the leaked date is accurate, we could see a proper announcement in the next few days. As for its price, the previous review mentioned a $99.99 price tag.
As far as the Steam Machine is concerned, Valve previously confirmed that it is still planned for a 2026 release, with more details to be shared when the company is ready. However, based on recent leaks, it looks like the Steam Controller will arrive first.
