Ubisoft Toronto is hiring again for the Splinter Cell Remake. Here is what Ubisoft has officially confirmed, what remains a rumor, and what is still unknown to date.

Ubisoft Toronto appears to be pressing on with its Splinter Cell remake, based on fresh job listings tied to the project. The openings, which include a producer and a team lead-level designer, were spotted by third-party media and reported this week. Ubisoft has not issued a new statement, and there is still no release date or window for the game.

What Ubisoft has confirmed

The latest official word dates to February 2026, when Ubisoft cut 40 roles at Ubisoft Toronto as part of a wider restructuring. The company said at the time that the Toronto studio continues development on the Splinter Cell game and also acts as a co-development partner on Rainbow Six. The studio employs roughly 500 people and previously led work on Splinter Cell: Blacklist in 2013.

Ubisoft first announced the remake in December 2021. It said the game would be rebuilt from the ground up on its Snowdrop engine, the technology behind Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, to deliver new-generation visuals and the dynamic lighting and shadows the series is known for. At the time, the studio described the project as being in the very earliest stages of development. Ubisoft Toronto also said the game would stay linear like the original titles rather than move to an open world while updating some design elements to match modern player expectations.

What remains unconfirmed

Several details now circulating online did not come from Ubisoft. Third-party media reported in October 2024 that the project carries the internal codename North and that earlier Splinter Cell games ran on Unreal Engine 2 and 2.5. Ubisoft has not confirmed either point. A leaker has since claimed a release target between the second and fourth quarters of 2027 and described the build as unstable, but that remains a rumor. Ubisoft has also not announced platforms or detailed any changes to the story or script.

What the hiring suggests

Job listings show that a team is still being built, but they do not reveal how far along the game is. A producer role may simply cover one part of production with an existing team rather than signal an early stage. For now, the openings suggest the remake has not been canceled, while its timing and scope stay open until Ubisoft shares more.
