The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered launches September 29

CD Projekt Red is releasing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on September 29, 2026, positioning it as the definitive edition of Geralt's 2015 adventure. The update arrives as a free upgrade for existing owners on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and marks the game's first native release on Nintendo Switch 2. It also debuts on Battle.net through a new partnership with Blizzard Entertainment.
Global launch times
The The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered unlocks simultaneously worldwide at 10:00 AM UTC on September 29. That works out to 3:00 AM PDT and 6:00 AM EDT in the US, 11:00 AM BST in the UK, 12:00 PM CEST and SAST across Europe and Africa, 7:00 PM JST and KST in Japan and South Korea, and 8:00 PM AEST in Australia.
Upgrade eligibility and file sizes
Owners of The Witcher 3 on Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S receive the remaster automatically, including the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. Switch owners can claim the native Switch 2 version at no extra cost. CD Projekt Red's published PC system requirements put the full install, expansions included, at around 70 GB, while the Switch 2 listing shows a standalone download of roughly 43.5 GB. The publisher has not broken out separate figures for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. All existing save files carry over.
What's changing
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered reworks combat and Sign casting, rebalances stamina, adds new execution finishers, and refines monster hitboxes. Roach's handling and traversal through dense areas like Novigrad have been overhauled, and a new transmogrification system lets players keep their gear's stats while changing its appearance. The skill tree has been rebalanced to make hybrid builds more viable on Death March. Photo mode gains expanded camera controls alongside upgraded water, foliage, and armor textures.
The remaster also opens CD Projekt Red's next phase for the franchise, ahead of the paid expansion Songs of the Past in 2027 and The Witcher 4, which the studio is targeting for a 2028 release window.
