Naughty Dog has released a free The Last of Us animated wallpaper for PS5 owners ahead of The Last of Us Day on September 28, with more announcements and digital extras planned. Meanwhile, HBO has added John Goodman, Ian Alexander and Laura Bailey to the cast of Season 3, set to premiere in 2027.

PS5 owners have a new freebie to claim: Naughty Dog has released a free animated wallpaper for the console's Welcome Hub ahead of The Last of Us Day, which falls on September 28. The design combines artwork from The Last of Us: Part I and The Last of Us: Part II Remastered, featuring Joel, Abby and both versions of Ellie side by side. Players need only to log into their PlayStation account to download it.

In another post, Naughty Dog has announced that further reveals are planned for Monday, including a partnership announcement, an unspecified "collaboration" and additional digital extras, alongside its charity-focused No Return stream on Twitch.

At the same time, HBO has unveiled casting news for Season 3, confirming John Goodman, Ian Alexander, and Laura Bailey in new roles, continuing the show's pattern of transitioning voice actors from the games into live-action parts. Season 3 is scheduled to air in 2027.
