After first showcasing it at CES 2025, Samsung is finally ready to sell you its 2025 flagship soundbar: HW-Q990F. The new soundbar is now widely available in the US and takes the crown as the company's most premium offering. It joins the HW-Q930F which was announced last month.
The Samsung HW-Q990F carries an official price tag of $1,999—the same price as last year’s model. But, as is often the case with new product launches, there are deals to be had. Samsung itself is knocking 10% off for a limited time, bringing the price down to $1,799. Major retailers like Best Buy and B&H Photo Video are also stocking the soundbar. However, Amazon seems to have the best deal currently; Prime members can stack an extra $100 discount and grab the system for $1,698.
The 2025 model comes with a revamped subwoofer
The headline feature of the HW-Q990F is undoubtedly its redesigned subwoofer. Samsung has managed to shrink it down to roughly half the size of its predecessor while packing in newly engineered dual 8-inch active drivers firing in opposite directions. The company claims this setup minimizes distortion and delivers precise bass down to 32Hz with 300W of power.
The main soundbar and satellite speakers look unchanged from the HW-Q990D and you're still getting support for all major audio formats like Dolby Atmos (including Wireless Dolby Atmos with compatible Samsung TVs), Dolby TrueHD, and DTS:X. Samsung's usual audio enhancements are also present. For example, SpaceFit Sound Pro uses mics on the bar and sub to optimize audio for your specific space while Active Voice Amplifier Pro dynamically boosts dialogue clarity when there's a lot of background noise.
Finally, the HW-Q990F comes equipped with two HDMI 2.1 ports, 4K 120Hz HDR video passthrough, eARC support, Q-Symphony support with compatible Samsung TVs, Bluetooth 5.3, Roon Ready status, Spotify Connect, AirPlay, Chromecast, SmartThings app integration, and an optical audio input.
