Samsung’s HW-Q990D is widely regarded as the best Dolby Atmos soundbar on the market, but at $2,000, it doesn't come cheap. The good news is that its price has fallen dramatically since launch, often on sale at steep discounts. Case in point: The soundbar is back on sale and matches its all-time low price.
The latest Woot deal knocks $1000 off Samsung’s flagship HW-Q990D, bringing it down to $998 from the original $1998 price. We’ve seen this Dolby Atmos soundbar drop to this price point a few times before, and it always sells out pretty quickly. If you missed out last time, this is your chance to grab one of the best soundbars at its lowest price. Samsung and Best Buy also have the HW-Q990D on sale, but you’ll end up paying $500 more.
The best Dolby Atmos soundbar
The HW-Q990D is Samsung’s most premium multi-speaker sound system, featuring a soundbar, a wireless subwoofer, and two satellite speakers. There are a total of 22 drivers spread across the system, with the main bar itself featuring 15 speakers. This is an 11.1.4-channel setup, meaning you get 11 front and side-firing channels, 1 subwoofer channel, and 4 height channels for a true cinematic surround sound experience with audio bouncing off your ceiling and walls. With support for Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD, and Wireless Dolby Atmos, the soundbar has you covered for all major audio formats. Serious gamers and console owners would also appreciate two HDMI 2.1 ports on the soundbar which supports 4K HDR passthrough at 120Hz 10-bit.
If you’ve a compatible Samsung TV, there’s a feature called Q-Symphony which lets you use the soundbar and TV’s built-in speakers in concert for a more expansive sound experience. Samsung also offers a room calibration feature, SpaceFit Pro, which analyzes your living room and automatically adjusts the audio tuning. Other notable features include an Optical port, two HDMI 2.1 ports with eARC, dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 support, built-in Alexa and Chromecast, AirPlay, Spotify Connect, Tidal Hi-Fi Connect, and access to additional sound enhancements via the SmartThings companion app.
