If you’re looking to complement your premium smart TV with a quality sound system that doesn’t take up too much space in your living room, Samsung’s HW-Q930D is one of the best options. It’s the second most expensive soundbar in Samsung’s flagship Q series and offers all the bells and whistles you need to take your home entertainment game to the next level. Thanks to Woot’s ongoing clearance sale, you can pick up this powerful audio system at its lowest price.
Usually fetching an exorbitant $1,400, the Samsung HW-Q930D is currently available for just $698 at Woot. That’s a whopping 50% off one of the best premium soundbars on the market and matches its all-time low price to date. It comes with Samsung's 1-year standard warranty, and Prime members qualify for free shipping too.
A powerful sound system with Dolby Atmos sound
The Samsung HW-Q930D system ships with a soundbar, a wireless subwoofer, and two wireless rear speakers. The setup comprises 17 drivers arranged in a 9.1.4 channel configuration—9 primary forward-firing and side-firing channels, one dedicated subwoofer channel, and four up-firing (height) channels for object-based spatial sound for Dolby Atmos content. All major audio formats are supported including Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos Wireless, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-X, and DTS-HD. There’s also a room calibration mode called SpaceFit which uses a microphone in the soundbar to map out your room’s acoustic characteristics and tune the speakers accordingly. Additional sound enhancement features such as Standard mode, Surround mode, Game mode, Adaptive mode, and Night Mode can be accessed using the SmartThings companion app. Wired and wireless connectivity options include HDMI in, eARC, an optical audio port, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Chromecast, Apple AirPlay, and Spotify Connect.
How does it compare to the HW-Q990D?
If you don't mind spending more, Samsung's flagship HW-Q990D soundbar offers two additional channels, extra drivers (22 vs 17), an extra HDMI port, 4K 120Hz passthrough over HDMI 2.1, and gets louder. However, as noted by Rtings and user reviews on Reddit, the difference between these systems is not night and day. If you've got an average-sized living room and don't need HDMI 2.1 passthrough for gaming, the Q930D might be the better choice, especially at $698.
