While Windows 11 had a rocky start, the latest OS by Microsoft is slowly picking up its pace by winning over users from Windows 10. However, the company appears to be trying a little hard to make users switch to the latest operating system.

It seems Microsoft won't stop trying a little too hard to get users to shift to Windows 11. The company recently made several changes to its support page to highlight all the benefits that the newer OS brings to the table. Of course, it appears that the efforts aren't going in vain. More and more users have started to switch from Windows 10 to the company's latest operating system.

Statcounter estimates that Windows 11 now has 42.07% of the total desktop Windows market share, a big jump from 26.68% in March last year. Windows 10, on the other hand, currently has 54.79% of the total market share, a noticeable drop from 69.07% in March 2024.

The company is now trying to win over users who are cautious about the apps that are installed on their PCs. To be specific, Microsoft has once again updated one of its support pages. It's about protecting PCs from unwanted software, and in the guide, the company has now highlighted that Windows 11 comes with Smart App Control.

As Microsoft describes, Smart App Control is backed by cloud-powered security, and it has the ability to block unsigned and harmful software. In the early stage, the feature was more of a miss than a hit, but with updates, Smart App Control got better at protecting PCs from unwanted apps.

However, one thing about the Smart App Control feature is that it requires a clean install. So, that means a regular upgrade from Windows 10 to 11 won't work. Moreover, during the initial setup, the optional diagnostic data needs to be enabled.
