While Windows 11 is slowly gaining more popularity among users, Windows 10 still holds a sizeable chunk of the user base. To be specific, according to Statcounter, as of the data from March 2025, Windows 10 has around 54.2% of the market share, while the latest operating system from Microsoft holds 42.69%.
Many of these Windows 10 users are holding off on upgrading to Windows 11 due to the TPM 2.0 requirement, something that many older-generation PCs don't meet. For a good while, Microsoft has been trying to convince these users to upgrade their PCs and install the latest operating system, and it seems that the company is still hard on its efforts.
More specifically, Microsoft has recently published a dedicated blog post that covers what TPM 2.0 is and its benefits. As the company highlights, PCs with support for TPM 2.0 can offer better data protection, improved integrity of the system's software and its firmware, and advanced security features.
Even though Microsoft doesn't explicitly mention it, the blog post seems to be comparing Windows 10 and Windows 11 in terms of user experience and security. Given that the end-of-support date for Windows 10 is over the horizon, it's safe to say that more blog posts about TPM 2.0 and Windows 11 are on the way.
It's also worth noting that Microsoft has previously tried to convince users to upgrade and make the switch through support page updates. For example, the company removed the official TPM 2.0 bypass guide, making the installation of Windows 11 less accessible to users with older PCs.
