Aaeon products are probably well-known in some niche markets, and with the UP 710S Edge, the company has now launched another mini PC. This system is not designed for regular users, but professional customers who are looking to integrate devices into their network. For instance, this computer can be used as an IoT gateway for certain machines in a factory.
That said, the new Aaeon mini PC is available with different Intel processors, specifically the N200, N97, N100 and N50. It is equipped with up to 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 64GB eMMC storage. Various operating systems are supported, including Windows 11 IoT, Ubuntu 22.04.4 and Yocto 4.0. Out of the box, only Gigabit Ethernet is available in terms of network connectivity, but a WiFi card can be added to the M.2-2230 slot. Unfortunately, an additional SSD or hard drive can’t be added to the UP 710S Edge.
Furthermore, the compact computer measures just 3.6 x 3 x 1.5 inches, weighs around 10.6 oz and is powered by a 12-volt DC connector with a typical power consumption between 30 and 36 watts. The system can be conveniently mounted on a DIN rail or VESA mount.
Moreover, the Aaeon UP 710S Edge is passively cooled and entirely silent. The absence of an active fan also means that dust accumulation won’t be an issue. In terms of ports, HDMI 1.4b and USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 can be used to connect accessories. RS-232/422/485 is available as well, and there are eight GPIO pins. PWM or I2C can also be used optionally. As usual, Aaeon does not publicly disclose the official MSRP of its latest mini PC.
