Archive.org versionWhen it comes to Android tablets, there are plenty of choices out there. If you want one with decent performance, do yourself a favour and pick up one that costs a bit more, like the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3. This tablet works well for most scenarios with its dual Wi-Fi 6 and LTE connectivity, decent performance, included S Pen, IP68 water/dust-resistance, and rugged case.

Archive.org versionThe more we lived with the Galaxy Active Tab 3, the more we wondered why it's on both Samsung's business and consumer website sections. It's clearly more aligned with the former, as at this price point it's so far removed from a consumer-grade tough tablet for the kids that it won't make sense for, well, almost anyone. We thought that might have been a good angle for such a products, but if that's your thinking then save several hundred and pick up an Amazon tablet instead. The fact is many consumer lifestyle products now offer some degree of rugged protection, more up-to-date designs, and as such the Active Tab 3 is therefore best left to who it's really for: the workforce. It's not bad by any means, it's just kind-of retro and somewhat lost for purpose in a consumer context.

Archive.org versionOverall, we feel that the Galaxy Tab Active3 is another solid entry from Samsung in the arena of rugged tablet. Just be sure to temper your expectations when it comes to flagship performance and truly tablet-worthy applications. For first responders, field workers and outdoor types alike, however, it's a very solid option.

Archive.org versionThe Galaxy Tab Active 3 is the very definition of a niche device, and one that lacks the performance and refinement for most people. For those who value robustness above all else, however, it’s a pretty tough tablet to beat.
