Small, light and chic. Iomega offers an external USB 2.0 hard disk in a matt aluminum look that allegedly looks great with a Mac or PC on the move. Read in our review if this has been accomplished.

Black-Carbon. There are literally countless bags and jackets for notebooks and particularly for Apple MacBooks. The American company, ION, supplies an extravagant carbon fiber and leather case. ION naturally charges an according price for the good workmanship and the high-end materials.

Inspiron 17R(eloaded). Dell's Inspiron 17 has already been available for a while and probably belongs to the American manufacturer's top sellers. Now there is a refresh available, called Inspiron 17R, which can be individually configured as typical for Dell - starting with the color up to hardware configuration.

Let the games begin. The X500, an 18.4-inch desktop replacement, has already found its way into our editorial office before the review even began. Toshiba recently updated the graphics card, insisting on scrapping the planned GeForce GTS 250M and including a GeForce GTS 360M as standard, which we naturally put through its paces.

The golden boy? The HP Elitebook 8540p is positioned in between the HP Probook 6540b and the HP Elitebook 8540w due to its price and its performance. Those readers who are curious about how well this notebook performs, will find all the necessary information in the following in-depth review.

Au revoir SuperDrive! Due to their architecture, the storage space in Apple's mobile systems is limited. MCE Technologies offers OptiBay, a clever high-quality solution, which allows to built-in a second 2.5 inch drive.

Vostro New – the Second. New hardware, subtle improvements of the equipment, new outfit. Following the Vostro 3500, we now put the updated and potently equipped 17 incher of the Vostro family to the test.

A Potent Notebook Cocktail. With the mySN MG7.c, notebook specialist Schenker offers a largely customizable 17.3-inch gaming notebook available from 789 Euro. Together, Intel's latest Core processors and ATI's Mobility Radeon 5730 promise good performance for demanding users.

Discount-Gamer. A lot of performance for little dough. For 800 Euro there is the surprisingly strong ATI HD5730 (GDDR3), the i5-430M processor and an endless number of connections. Whether or not MSI improves on the much faulted quality of its case will be revealed in our review.

Breaking the Rules? In 1996 Toshiba belonged to the avant-garde of the netbook hype to first set in years later with its minicomputer, Libretto. Now a refresh, a Dual Touch 7 incher W100, has appeared. Aside that, the AC100 Cloud Companion is supposed to pair smartphones and netbook and the Portégé R700 provides for an uproar with a competitive price.

Small business. The smallest member of the Dell Latitude series has had a hardware upgrade while remaining in its old case. It is now equipped with an Intel Atom N470 processor, faster DDR2-6400 memory, a touchscreen with a higher resolution and a 3G module.

Working faster. We are facing a representative of Dell's high-end "mainstream" range of Latitude Business notebooks. Equipped with powerful components (Core i7, SSD), the 14 inch laptop is recommendable for ambitioned business users with mobility needs.

Powerful, Audible & Mobile. No matter if it's to be a Lamborghini for the racing sports fan, an acoustic machine for the hi-fi aficionado or an angular business Eee PC for the office geek – Asus has it. Amongst others: Ion 2 GPUs and Atom D525 processors.

Digital-Chic. Style-oriented customers will certainly get their money's worth when considering this 15.6-inch notebook; be it in red, silver, black or white it features an Intel Core i5, ATI HD5470 and is ready for the demands of social networking. Could it be the perfect companion for digital wanderers and networked school kids?

Just a silent TICK. After the remarkable change from Core 2 Duo to Core i architecture there follows a gentle update of the quad-core processors, which are available since autumn last year. We looked at its effects in detail.

External Speeder II. The in the meantime widely distributed eSATA interface makes a fast data transfer possible and can still keep up with the new standard, USB 3.0, in terms of external 2.5" hard disks. Our review shows just how well.

Memory Cooler. The summer is approaching and Choiix presents a notebook cooling pad, the Air-Through Stash, which has an integrated 80 millimeter fan, SATA bay for 2.5" drives and a 3 port USB hub. We'll clarify if this purchase is worth it in this short review.

CAD Expert + X. Primarily created for professional work, the technical data and configuration details also catch the attention of occasional gamers and ambitioned home users. We looked at what this workstation is capable of in detail.

Business Gamer. Business laptops usually do not have strong graphics cards. Acer begs to differ with its newest TravelMate model, the Acer TravelMate 5740G-524G50MN. Thanks to the ATI HD5650 and Core i5-520M duo in the laptop, Acer can promise its buyers good performance for business laptops too. Business-Allrounder. With the E6510, Dell offers a reworked 15.6 incher intended for professional office duties. Depending on one's demands, the machine comes with various hardware configurations; for instance also with an independent graphic card and an Intel quad core CPU.

External Speeder. If you need a fast external memory, you won't really be able to avoid the new USB 3.0 USB port. LaCie now offers the "rugged" series with this fast interface and has to prove its potential in this review.

Updated graphics. After its latest refresh the white MacBook has caught up again with the MacBook Pro 13. Its GeForce 320M provides markedly improved graphics performance, but does the package as a whole justify the relatively high price tag?

Core Update. Apple's 17 inch aluminum notebook has also been upgraded and now features a Core i5, Intel graphics and even an automatically switching GeForce GT330M. The performance benefits from this update greatly, but there is a catch under maximum load.

Lord of Pixel. It seemed as if ATI would completely seize control of the graphics card market in the last months. Now Nvidia launches a "silver bullet" codenamed "Fermi", which should bring the GPU manufacturer back to the top. We have the first results for you.

Mac Mini Alternative? Fujitsu has offered similarly small mini PCs as Apple's Mac Mini for several years. We have looked at the latest completely reworked series and describe for whom such a device might be of interest.

Sound & Performance, Vision or Reality? On occasion of the upcoming Computex in Taiwan, MSI invited European journalists to a prior event in Amsterdam where a few novelties were presented in advance. We were onsite for you and have summarized the most awesome products of the notebook field here.

A great entertainer. Acer is refreshing its range of 18.4-inch multimedia notebooks with the Aspire 8943G. The hardware is the same for the most part, but there have been some changes on the outside. Is it enough to set the new Aspire 8943G apart from the previous models?

More Power. The G73 already let the hearts of the notebook gaming community beat faster in its first available alternative. Asus has now upgraded it and equips the machine with an i7 quad-core CPU, 8 GB RAM, a 1 TB mass memory and a FullHD display.

A Green Starter Thinkpad? A relatively inexpensive business notebook with a good performance, long battery life and even environmentally-friendly: Who could resist that? We've checked if Lenovo can keep its promotion promises.

Basics. The model range Extensa 7630G from Acer finds its circle of customers in small and mid-sized businesses, but it is also interesting for private users. It draws the attention of the buyer thanks in particular to its value-for-money ratio.

New hardware, old weaknesses. The latest addition to MSI's gaming range is the new GX640. On the outside nothing has changed, but under the surface lurks a particularly powerful graphics card, the Radeon HD 5850 GDDR5. Is it all too much for the modest 15-inch case?

That significant eXtra. Acers new 14 inch high-class performer is here: the Aspire Timeline X 4820TG-434G64Mn promises to deliver decent performance thanks to the installed Core i5 and the mobile Radeon HD 5650 graphics chip. On top of that, Acer assures customers that the laptop will also have long battery life and easy-to-use switchable graphics.

Lowrider. Dell models bearing the -z suffix are differentiated from the all-around Inspiron family by being particularly mobile. A thin housing, energy-sipping CPU's and large-capacity batteries should keep even the most demanding users away from the wall outlet.

Qosmio's newest family addition. The first look at the 15.6 inch sized multimedia notebook reveals a BluRay drive, a GeForce GT330M graphics and the Toshiba-typical Harman/Kardon loudspeakers. We are anxious to find out what else is concealed in the glossy red-black case.

Some platforms are obviously dearly loved. This is also the case for the well-known, colorful 17" Gaming Barebone from MSI. With an Intel Core i7-720QM and ATI HD5870 graphics, it celebrates its return in the GX740 and promises first class gaming performance.

i7 power. After a long wait, the updated MacBook Pro models have finally arrived. We put the most powerful model with its glossy 1440 x 900 screen to the test, and ask whether it is truly worth the high price.

New Vostro. The Vostro 3500 has Intel's latest hardware and Nvidia's GeForce G310M graphic card in a new aluminum case, as well as a few improvements in the configuration to offer in this review. As usual, Dell also offers numerous options besides that.

Nvidia, no thanks?! The notorious manufacturer Hewlett-Packard makes a comeback with a true flood of various models. Amongst the most exciting ones are the new Envy 14 and 17 models, as well as notebooks of the dv3 and dm4 series. The highlights are summarized here.

Small. Light. Wind. The manufacturer MSI beefs up once again and expands its Wind range by the U160 with a 10 inch WSVGA display, Intel Atom N450, one GB DDR 2 RAM and 160 GB hard disk. An Intel GMA 3150 chip, already integrated into the Atom N450 CPU, is used for the graphic solution.

Workstation Lite. The Tecra S11 is intended to be a workstation computer, according to Toshiba. But it is questionable whether its Nvidia Quadro NVS 2100M graphics card will satisfy the performance-orientated user. At least Toshiba has gone all out on the processor, opting for a i5-520M or i7-620M.

The State of the Netbook. The all-time favorite, Acer Aspire One, attempts to deliver high performance, unlike the other typical, Atom-based netbooks, with its Intel Celeron M processor. Business Toolbox. Those who need a notebook as a constant companion need more than a display with keys in front of it. The 14 incher wants to vindicate its high-class claim with connection variety, robustness, and Core i5-520M power.

Performance & Endurance? With the N82JV, Asus has launched a multimedia notebook that is supposed to distinguish itself by a good performance and, at the same time, a long battery life, due to Nvidia's Optimus technology...

Deluxe-minimalist for enthusiasts. Individualists with a love for design and looking for something special may find the exclusive object of their desires in the new Adamo XPS. Flat, elegant, chic, and still functional? We had a look.

Business-to-go. The Fujitsu Lifebook S760 tries balancing a reasonable battery life with a vast connectivity in a small, mobile power book for the modern businessperson.

Bread and Butter. Asus' mainstream models are labeled K-series. They are supposed to satisfy the average computer needs. Barely any connections, little performance and an average display? Read if we can recommend the 17 incher at hand.

High DefinitION. The first version of Ion already aimed at improving the performance of netbooks and enhancing their field of application. As Nvidia could no longer offer a chipset that supports the Pineview Intel Atom CPUs, the next generation of the ION platform comes with a dedicated graphics card.

Touch-Netbook.This 10-inch touch screen equipped Netbook should make the work of professionals easier: special uses such as stock keeping or on-site data acquisition are navigable at the touch of a finger. We test whether the Touch-Mini lives up to its name.

All-rounder at your fingertips. Is an aesthetic overhaul enough to keep Acer's Mainstream 15.6-incher within the public eye? With a matte finish, the glossy devil has been banished from the outer lid and the interior has a rather noble touch. The i3-330M and an ATI HD5470 take care of the performance side of things.

Something for everyone. ATI graphic cards are strongly represented (HD5650, HD5850), the new multimedia master is the Ethos and Timeline models serve with i3 and i5 CPUs. Travelmates are now available in 11.6 inches and the smallest ATI gamer in a 13.3" size has been named 3820T

Reliable Business. The Tecra notebook, designed and produced by Toshiba, the Japanese giant, is a reliable office companion. The current A11 series attempts to attract customers with its price range and business quality features like a sturdy case and a variety of ports for extensive connectivity.

Mighty Midget. A fast Core i5, gaming-suitable graphic card, DVD drive and a bright, high definition and matt display in a 1.5 kg hybrid-carbon case. That sounds good? Well, it is. But you'll have to accept a loud fan under load and a downclocked GeForce GT330M.

Gaming Monster. With the XMG8.c, mySN has a burly 18.4 incher available that promises an outstanding performance, due to GeForce GTX 285M (SLI). The question if Nvidia's GeForce GTX 285M (SLI) can compete with the strong ATI opponent is especially interesting ...

Office decathlete. The 15.6" ProBook wants to hold its ground in the budget-priced Office mid-range. With at TFT, Core i5 performance, 1600X900 pixels and bountiful ports, it may do just that. Is it perfect in every department? Our review gives the answers.

A Multifunctional Convertible? According to Fujitsu, the Lifebook T900 should be an "extremely versatile, lightweight convertible notebook for professional users". The hyper-gamer? Asus is making a completely fresh start with the G73; a new design, matt surfaces, an improved cooling system and a DirectX 11 capable graphics card (the HD 5870) all go to make up this 17.3-inch gaming hot-shot. We put the €1,400 machine to the test in our review.

Disguised Game. There is rarely a gamer amongst Toshiba's low-priced laptops. The manufacturer makes an exception with the ATI HD 5165 at a price of 670 euro. The HD 4650 twin even does well in current games and yet doesn't need a strong CPU to do that.

The device comes equipped with a TV tuner, a graphics card, "SideShow Display", and Blu-ray to fulfill any and all entertainment needs of a family. Fujitsu promote the AH550 as a stylish all-rounder with a glossy, high-resolution, 15.6-inch screen in a 16:9 widescreen format, and with good communications features to boot. With the Vaio VPC-CW2S1E/L Sony brings a new 14-inch multimedia notebook to the market, featuring a 16:9 format screen and the performance of the Intel Core i3 or i5 processors in combination with an Nvidia GeForce GT 330M graphics chipset. A Tablet for Everyone? Whether you prefer to type or handwrite your texts, whether you rather navigate your computer per touchscreen or per touchpad, the HP delivers. On top of that HP promises performance on par with full size laptops and a battery life of up to eight hours. The following review will show, if the 12-inch device meets the expectations.

Performance Bombshell. After a seeming eternity, the first notebooks with ATI's fervently awaited Mobility Radeon HD 5870 are finally available. We've snatched the Devil 9700 DTX, a correlating sample from Deviltech, and have taken the Radeon HD 5870 to its limits of gaming capacity.

Simple and Fast. The Schenker mySN MB6.a doesn't look like anything special on the outside but a strong heart beats inside. That is to say a Core i5. One of Many? The Dot s2 is the second netbook generation from Packard Bell. Despite the comparably weak battery and the low weight of 1.2 kilograms, the 10 incher can stay remote from the mains for up to 11 hours. What's in the runtime star for 299 euro?

True Colors. Lenovo presents a very elegant business device with a 13.3 inch screen with its ThinkPad 13. Lenovo's ThinkPad range stands above all for good quality and a high durability. Read in detail about how the ThinkPad Edge 13 manages in this review.

Gaming for the price conscious. At the end of 2009 Packard Bell secured itself a place among the most interesting notebooks, with the TJ65 at a price of 580 Euros. Now Packard Bell has included a current ATI HD5650, along with an Intel Core i5, increasing the price by a mere 100 Euros. Has the Acer daughter invested in good hardware, and saved in other areas instead?

Optim{us/al?} The UL50VF is a 15.6" version of the slim Asus CULV laptops, and is equipped with NVidias "Optimus" which is able to switch graphics cards in the notebooks as needed. The notebook has a long list of great features: long battery life, low system noice, and is very light for a 15 inch laptop. Multimedia Surprise? Sony presents chic multimedia notebooks that are already available for far less than 1000 euro with its new E-Series. They bid a surprisingly good value for money ratio because of Intel's Core i5 and ATI's Mobility Radeon HD 5650. We'll reveal if Sony has economized on quality and how the E-Series does in the single points of our comprehensive review.

Big performance. The Asus K70IC is a 17 inch multimedia notebook for about 700 Euros. It gives the impression as if Asus wants to prove that it is also possible to provide an attractive design and good features in the middle price band. Red and fast In the area of all-round devices from Fujitsu, the LifeBook P3110 is currently the smallest model. The subnotebook has an 11.6 –inch screen with LED backlight. The subnotebook differs from Netbooks by the Intel Pentium Dual-core CPU and GMA 4500M HD graphic card. Nevertheless, simple office applications stay the main field of the P3110.

Workstation in 15 inches. When searching for an efficient laptop for the business field, you'll sooner or later likely end up by Lenovo's Thinkpad W models. They have also been upgraded to state-of-the-art with the Thinkpad W510. To be precise, we'll now be looking at a W510 model with an Intel Core i7-820QM processor, an Nvidia Quadro FX 880M graphic card and a four gigabyte RAM.
