RedMagic confirms release for new compact gaming tablet

A new wave of high-end yet compact gaming tablets is almost upon us. At the start of the week, Lenovo presented the Legion Tab Gen 5 at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. Preceding the impending launch of the comparable Legion Y700 Gen 5 in China, the Legion Tab Gen 5 currently stands as the only tablet featuring Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
However, it seems that RedMagic will not be far behind with the release of a RedMagic Astra successor. To recap, the company introduced the Gaming Tablet 3 Pro last June in China. Then a month later it began selling the same tablet globally, but as the RedMagic Astra. Now, it has shared an initial teaser about the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, which we have embedded below.
So far, RedMagic has only hinted that the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro is 'coming soon'. Evidently, the new tablet is another compact effort though, rather than a return to the RedMagic Nova and its Galaxy Tab S11-rivalling form factor (curr. $799 on Amazon). Other details about the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro remain unknown for now. Past experience suggests that the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro will receive a global release later this year under a different name.
