Portronics Pico 13 portable projector with 3,500 lumens brightness and 4K support launched
Portronics has expanded its signature Pico series portable projector lineup with the launch of the new Pico 13 projector. The successor to the Pico 12 which was launched last year in November comes with subtle design improvements and better overall specs.
Starting with the product's dimensions, the Pico 13 measures 20 x 24.5 x 10cm and weighs 1.39 kg (3.06 lb), making it portable enough to take with you. The DLP smart projector is equipped with an LED light source delivering up to 3,500 lumens of brightness; that being said, these are not ANSI lumens so we advise the reader not to take things at face value here. The product outputs at 1080p 60 Hz natively. It is not clear what kind of a SoC the Pico has, or how much RAM it has. There is no word on color space coverage and color accuracy, either.
We do know that the compact projector is capable of producing an image up to 120 inches (~305cm) in diagonal. The all-important auto keystone correction feature is onboard for easier initial setup but to adjust sharpness, the user will have to use a focus wheel.
The projector comes with an Android 9 based operating system that is apparently compatible - despite how old Android 9 is at this point - with popular OTT platforms like Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Netflix, YouTube, and more. It has 10W built-in speakers; external speakers can be connected via Bluetooth or the 3.5mm port.
You get all the standard connectivity options here including WiFi (possibly Wi-Fi 6), HDMI (the version is not disclosed but it's got to be 1.4b for the product to be able to accept 4K 60 Hz video signal), USB-A, USB-C and Bluetooth. The built-in battery charges via USB-C and supposedly provides up to 3 hours of uninterrupted playtime, allowing users to watch an entire movie on a single charge. It probably goes without saying that running the projector at full brightness will have a devastating effect on its battery life.
The Portronics Pico 13 is priced at Rs 31,499 (~$375). As an introductory price offer, you can snag it on Amazon India for Rs 26,999 (~$321).
