A recent report suggests that Philips Hue has released a new feature for users of the recently launched Hue Secure Wired video doorbell. It has been suggested that there is new motion-triggered functionality, which should make it easier for visitors to spot your doorbell at night.

The Philips Hue Secure Wired video doorbell has a new feature. This smart home device launched in September 2025, following a series of leaks and rumors from earlier in the year.

Early users of the Hue Secure Wired video doorbell noted that, at night, visitors would not always see the doorbell, or mistakenly try to push the upper camera instead of the lower button. Now, Hueblog.com reports that the LED ring around the doorbell button will automatically illuminate when a person is detected at your door. This should resolve the aforementioned problem.

At the time of writing, users of the Philips Hue Secure Wired video doorbell have not been able to find settings to allow them to adjust this motion-triggered illumination feature. There is no mention of this functionality in the product listing on the brand’s website or in the device’s manual. It is also unclear when this feature was activated for the device. This may have occurred in a recent Philips Hue app update or an over-the-air update for the device itself.

Philips Hue recently began to roll out Secure Cameras 1.2.39.1104000 firmware. This change relating to the Secure Wired video doorbell is not mentioned in the change log. However, the company suggests that it has enhanced the reliability of the live view and stored clips for these devices. Plus, the runtime of battery cameras like the Secure Battery camera (curr. $159.99 at Amazon Marketplace) is said to have been enhanced.
