WiiM is expanding its lineup of audio streaming products with a brand-new smart speaker. The company recently announced the WiiM Sound, which is about to become available for purchase. The black version is already listed at the manufacturer's official online store in some regions, a white model and availability on Amazon will follow soon. The suggested retail price is €349.
The WiiM Sound is advertised to offer hi-fi audio quality, intelligent connectivity and multi-room control. The speaker measures around 6 x 6 x 8 inches and is equipped with a 4-inch woofer and two tweeters that deliver 100 watts of combined power and support 24-bit 192 kHz high-res audio. With its automatic room correction called AI RoomFit, the compact WiiM Sound is supposed to produce room-filling sound.
The smart speaker can be controlled via the corresponding WiiM Home app. This software allows users to control all speakers, streamers and amplifiers of this brand in one place, but it also provides direct access to popular streaming options such as Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Qobuz Connect, Tidal Connect, DLNA and Alexa Cast. Connectivity options include WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio, Ethernet and a 3.5mm jack.
On the front, there is a 1.8-inch touch display for controlling playback, adjusting the equalizer and input selection. The manufacturer further includes the WiiM Voice Remote 2 Lite in the box. In addition to regular buttons, the remote supports push-to-talk voice commands, which are processed by Alexa or Google Assistant.
