Tink has released its new Basics Motion Sensor (Matter) in its home market of Germany. The smart home product could be used to trigger other devices, or to alert you to an intruder in your home. This is a relatively affordable option, which comes with an adjustable-angle stand and two batteries.

The tink Basics Motion Sensor (Matter) has been released in Germany. Tink is a smart home company that sells devices from a range of brands, alongside a few of its own products under the tink Basics range like the Smart Plug (curr. €16.99 at Amazon DE).

Tink’s new Motion Sensor is designed to detect people moving around your home. You could use this information as a form of security when you are out of the house, or to trigger other linked smart home devices like lights. The motion sensor has a 90° detection angle and a detection range of 3-7 m (~9.8-23.0 ft). This Matter-over-Thread device can integrate with a wide range of smart home ecosystems, connecting to products from other brands; it is worth noting that it must be paired with a Thread border router.

Users of the tink Motion Sensor can receive real-time push notifications via the brand’s app or from other smart home apps like Google Home. Thanks to its adjustable angle base, it can easily be mounted on a wall or ceiling. The white device is powered by two AAA batteries and will operate in temperatures from -10 to 50°C (~14 to 122°F). It measures 12.3 x 4.5 x 2.4 cm (~4.8 x 1.8 x 0.9 inches).

You can now buy the tink Basics Motion Sensor (Matter) at the brand’s online store in Germany for €29.95. This makes it a relatively affordable option, given its feature set. It is unclear when tink could start selling this product on its websites in other countries like the Netherlands and Belgium.
