Shelly has released the Dimmer Gen4 in Europe. This smart home gadget is designed to turn your existing lights into smart lights, which can be controlled with an app or voice commands. Compared to the older Dimmer Gen3, the new model has a couple of upgrades, including multiprotocol support and Matter certification.

The Shelly Dimmer Gen4 is now available in various European countries. This gadget is designed to allow you to turn ordinary lights in your home into smart lights, which can be remotely controlled or triggered by other smart home devices. As its name suggests, the smart home product follows on from the Dimmer Gen3 (curr. €34.90 at Amazon DE), with a couple of upgrades.

The Dimmer Gen4 supports multiple protocols, offering Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Zigbee. Plus, this is a Matter-certified device, allowing it to integrate with a range of other smart home ecosystems like Apple Home and HomeKit.

As before, this version of the Shelly Dimmer does not require a neutral wire, though a bypass is still needed with the load under 20W. It is compatible with a range of light types, including up to dimmable LED lamps, up to 150W incandescent bulbs and up to 200W halogen lamps. Users can adjust the response speed and fade time of their lights to customize the brightness adjustment experience. Plus, you can remotely control the device through the Shelly app, as well as with voice assistants. It has a green shell, measuring 38.5 x 43.5 x 17.0 mm (~1.52 x 1.71 x 0.67 inches), meaning it can fit behind switches.

You can currently buy the Shelly Dimmer Gen4 in European countries for €41.13, thanks to a discount on the €45.70 RRP. It is unclear when this product could be released in the US.
