The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M40 has been released in China. This new smart home product arrives shortly after the more advanced Smart Door Lock M40 Pro, which was launched earlier in November 2025.
Xiaomi’s Smart Door Lock M40 offers a range of ways to unlock your door, such as facial recognition, a fingerprint scanner and a password. The only difference between the two models is that the Pro model also offers palm vein recognition. On the newer version, there are dual integrated cameras, providing a 190° view at your door. The primary 3MP camera offers a 175° camera, designed for detecting people, while the second 128° camera is focused on detecting objects like parcels.
On the internal portion of the Smart Door Lock M40, there is a 4.98-inch screen, allowing you to see who is at your door without opening it. You can remotely manage the smart lock through the brand’s app. Plus, iz\at supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and should run for around six months on a combination of lithium and AA batteries. Xiaomi also suggests that it has a relatively quiet automatic locking mechanism, with a C-level lock cylinder and a built-in security sensor.
In China, the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M40 retails for CNY 3,299 (~$464). That makes it CNY 500 (~$70) cheaper than the M40 Pro. It is unclear whether or when this smart home product could be released in Europe, where the company already sells products like the Robot Vacuum X20+ (curr. €299.99 at Amazon DE).
