Oppo Pad 3 tipped to launch as slimmed-down Android tablet with new (if not better) SoC
The third-generation Oppo Pad is now slated to launch with a 2.8K 11.6-inch LCD display kept on with a 9,510mAh battery replenished using the brand's 67W SuperVOOC charging.
Barring some exceptions such as the RedMagic Nova, that is pretty snappy for an Android tablet, especially when that screen is also allegedly destined for an unusually high (probably 144Hz) refresh rate.
On the other hand, all of the same specs are also to be found in the pre-existing Oppo Pad 2 - also available internationally as the original OnePlus Pad (now available at $450.59 on Amazon). The "Pad 3" is also projected to debut with the Dimensity 8350 in its latest leak.
That is an SoC that actually has yet to be released - yet is still likely to be a downgrade (in terms of market tier, at least) on the Pad 2's former flagship-grade 9000 platform.
It might not be surprising that the upcoming Pad 3 is thought to have fallen from grace as the Oppo flagship, as the brand has after all introduced its Pro version (also known as the premium OnePlus Pad 2) in advance.
Then again, its successor might have a new chassis, at least, as it is tipped to be just 6.29mm in depth and 533 grams in mass - thinner and slightly lighter than the Pad 2.
Therefore, the Pad 3 might be promoted as a slate that is as easy on the backpack as on the wallet on its launch, rumored to take place at the same time of that of the upcoming Reno13 series of smartphones.
