First look at Oppo Reno 13 shows an iPhone-like design

Oppo is expected to announce a new line of Reno smartphones, the Reno 13 series, in a few weeks. Ahead of the launch, an image of the Reno 13 has appeared online, providing a first look at the new mid-range smartphone.

The image of the Reno 13 was posted on Weibo by the popular leaker Digital Chat Station, and it shows a partial view of the phone right beside an iPhone 15. The photo highlights the similarity between Oppo's new phone and Apple's 2023 phone.

The photo reveals Oppo is adopting a new design for the next generation of Reno smartphones. The rectangular camera island of the Reno 12 is gone and has been replaced by a transparent squircle glass, similar to that of the iPhone 15. Oppo has even adopted the seamless glass mold too but a different camera arrangement to differentiate its phone from Apple's. The Reno 13 also has a round LED flash and not the pill-shaped type of its predecessor.

Oppo has also changed the frame of the Reno 13. It does look like the frame of the iPhone 15 (available on Amazon for $566), and we hope it's the same recycled aluminum for better durability considering the Reno 12 launched with a glossy mirror-like plastic frame.

Oppo is yet to announce a launch date for the Reno 13 series but an earlier leak revealed it might be unveiled on November 25 in China. There should be at least two models - a standard edition and a pro model. The latter is reported to have a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED 120Hz display and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
