Google Pixel Tablet 2 to launch with new hardware upgrades and official keyboard accessory
New details about Google's second Pixel Tablet have surfaced online from a typically reliable. Specifically, Mishaal Rahman has outlined not only the potential hardware upgrades that Google will showcase with the Pixel Tablet 2, but also some of the accessories with which the tablet will be available.
Writing for Android Authority, Rahman claims that recent prototypes closely resemble the design of Google's existing Pixel Tablet (curr. $393.34 on Amazon). However, the Pixel Tablet 2 is said to sport thinner display bezels, as well as adjusted camera and physical button placements. To that end, both the tablet's front and rear-facing cameras are said to utilise better sensors than the 8 MP and 1/4-inch sensors found in the Pixel Tablet.
Moreover, Rahman suggests that the Pixel Tablet 2 should land with Tensor G4 or Tensor G5 chipsets. For reference, even if it were the former, then the Pixel Tablet 2 should be around 30% faster than its predecessor. Predictably, the tablet should receive up to seven years of software updates.
Furthermore, the tablet will support external monitor output and several first-party accessories missing from the original Pixel Tablet. Specifically, Rahman reports that Google will offer the tablet with a detachable keyboard and stylus, which were rumoured for its predecessor. As it stands, it remains to be seen whether the Pixel Tablet 2 will ship with a detachable smart home dock like its predecessor, though.
