The OnePlus Pad 3 is now the only Android device with the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, 80W fast charging and a 13.2-inch display on the market. Its next generation (which might opt to be called the Pad 5 line rather than Pad 4) might have a different form-factor in mind, however.
The prolific leaker Digital Chat Station now asserts that the company has started to work on a "small tablet" that might, moreover, have the same kind of flagship specs as the Pad 3 despite its more compact design.
Accordingly, the "Pad 5 Mini" (or, perhaps, "Pad 5s" so as to line up with the new 13s smartphone) might benefit from other features such as an unusually fast 144Hz refresh rate (if not 165Hz) and Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX HD.
Such a configuration is thought (by Lenovo, at least) most advantageous in a gaming tablet, although there is currently no evidence that the allegedly more compact OnePlus Pad of the future will be one.
Then again, the brand is now slated to take over service of the mobile gaming market from its parent Oppo in the future, as most recently evidenced by its involvement in the research and development of college-level e-sports course material in its native China.
