OnePlus Nord 6 camera upgrades confirmed ahead of launch

OnePlus is gearing up to launch its battery powerhouse Nord 6 in India and it is expected to be a rebranded OnePlus Turbo 6, but with a few upgrades. The company has now shared some details about the camera setup ahead of its April 7 launch. The Nord series is OnePlus’ budget lineup which, like every other budget line, has been getting more expensive over the years.
OnePlus India took to X and shared that the Nord 6 will come with a 50 MP Sony LYTIA sensor with dual-axis OIS and multi-focussing. It will be accompanied by an 8 MP ultrawide shooter. At the front, the selfie camera will be a 32 MP shooter placed in a central hole-punch cutout. In comparison, the OnePlus Turbo 6 had a single 50 MP sensor at the back with a 2 MP monochrome camera. That’s quite an upgrade for a rebranded device.
When comparing it to the Nord 5, this is the same setup for the rear cameras but the selfie camera is a downgrade in terms of megapixels since the Nord 5 had a 50 MP front camera. Hopefully the drop in resolution will not come with a drop in image quality.
The main selling point of this phone, however, is the massive battery. Coming in at 9,000 mAh likely with support for 80W fast charging, this puts it among the highest battery capacity phones out there. Powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and featuring a 165 Hz display, the OnePlus Nord 6 is shaping up to be a beast of a budget phone, that is, if OnePlus can price it that way.
Availability of the OnePlus Nord 6 outside India is unclear at the moment, but the device has cleared regulatory certifications in Malaysia and the UAE.
