Xiaomi has re-released the Redmi Note 15 5G with a new version. Equipped with a larger battery than the Redmi Note 15 5G sold internationally, the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition contains a few other changes from its 5G sibling, too.

Xiaomi has updated the Redmi Note 15 series with another new model. Since January, the company has sold five smartphones under the Redmi Note 15 series, including the Redmi Note 15 4G and Redmi Note 15 Pro 4G outside China. Now, it has expanded its 5G offering to include the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition.

The new release is more than just a simple visual refresh of the Redmi Note 15 5G, too. Instead, the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition departs from its sibling in crucial areas. For one, the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition swaps out the 108 MP primary and 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera found in the regular Redmi Note 15 5G (curr. $275 on Amazon).

As far as we can tell, Xiaomi has brought across the 50 MP primary camera from the Chinese version of the Redmi Note 15. A 1/2.88-inch sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, the 50 MP camera is likely the Light Hunter 400 used across multiple mid-range smartphones. Only an auxiliary lens joins this rear-facing camera though, as well as the same 20 MP selfie camera found in the existing Redmi Note 15 5G.

Additionally, Xiaomi has equipped the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition with the same 5,800 mAh battery as the Redmi Note 15 5G sold in China. The new release comes in a unique 'Crimson Reserve' finish, too. A 6.77-inch AMOLED display and a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset return, though.

The Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition starts at INR 19,999 (~$215) with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage in a choice of Carbon Black, Crimson Reserve and Frosted White finishes. Alternatively, the device will be available with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage for INR 21,999 (~$235) and INR 23,999 (~$255), respectively. Pre-orders will open in India on April 7; Xiaomi has confirmed whether it will sell the Redmi Note 15 5G Special Edition globally.
