The OnePlus 11 must really be smarting from the revelation that it has missed out on the 1-inch camera sensor of the new Find X6 Pro from its "co-brand" OPPO. The Android flagship is back with a new bid to take the limelight away from its freshly-launched Hasselblad-branded siblings with a new and apparently particularly special limited edition.
OnePlus China's vice-president Li Jie Louis is currently hyping this new "product" from the 11 line in terms of what might be a highly unusual look and feel to its rear panel. The executive strongly hints at a whole new type of rear panel developed for the variant, "built with unprecedented materials and craftsmanship".
Accordingly, this "11 Special Edition" is touted to drop the standard Arbor Green or Obisidian Black glass for a different finish that might even vary from unit to unit, possibly mimicking the surface of the planet Jupiter in the process. Therefore, it looks like this may not be a market-ready version of the 11 Concept from MWC 2023.
OnePlus is no stranger to unique textures or technologies in completing its handsets, although it is tipped by the leaker Digital Chat Station to have gone farther than ever along these lines in completing this new special edition. Hopefully, it, unlike the 10 Pro's Extreme Edition of 2022, will become available outside China this time.
