OPPO A2 Pro launches with a premium gloss over mid-range Android specs
The OPPO A-series has officially gone Pro for the first time with its latest variant. It has inherited a large central disk of a rear camera hump that, while not Hasselblad-branded, boasts a stylish border clearly intended to recall a high-end lens.
Despite this slight parallel with the Find X6 Pro, it quickly becomes obvious that the A2 Pro is a rebrand of the Realme 11 Pro, down to the 6.7-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display driven by the Dimensity 7050 SoC and 67W charging for its 5,000mAh battery.
Then again, and despite OPPO's normal enthusiasm for mobile photography, the A2 Pro only has 2 rear cameras: a relatively low-res 64MP main shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. They are found in a stove-top layout, although the other 2 circles only house a flash and a decorative accent that matches its unit's color SKU.
Nevertheless, the A2 Pro is more expensive than the 11 Pro at launch, starting at 1,799 yuan (~US$) for an 8GB RAM/256GB internal storage model, rising to 2,399 yuan (~US$) for a 12GB/512GB top-end SKU, both of which are finished in either glass (with Twilight or Vast Black shades) or vegan leather (Desert Brown).
Those prices might have something to do with the A2 Pro's status as the first devices to launch under OPPO's new extended warranty program for the Chinese market, whereby its battery is guaranteed a replacement should its health fall to 80% or less within its first 4 years of use.
