The BenQ W4100i home theater projector has been unveiled in Europe. This model is billed by the company as versatile and arrives alongside the W5850 as a less expensive option for the home cinema.
BenQ’s W4100i is a 4K model with 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 and Rec.709 color spaces. The core difference between the W4100i and W5850 projectors is the light source; this model has a 4LED rather than laser light source, providing up to 3,200 ANSI lumens brightness and expected to run for 30,000 hours in Eco mode. You can throw images up to 150 inches (~381 cm) wide with a 1.15-1.5 throw ratio and 1.3x zoom. Other features include 24 fps playback, Filmmaker Mode and support for HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG content.
Plus, for gaming, there is a 17.9 ms input lag at 4K@60Hz and auto low latency mode (ALLM). This DLP model comes with the BenQ Android TV dongle, bringing access to Netflix, Prime Video and other apps, as well as Chromecast, Apple AirPlay, and Google Assistant voice commands. The projector has a single 5W speaker and offers a range of ports, including HDMI 2.1 (HDCP 2.3), SPDIF and audio out.
According to BenQ, this new projector measures 420.5 x 135.3 x 312.1 mm (~16.6 x 5.3 x 12.3 inches) and can be mounted to the ceiling. BenQ is expected to launch the W4100i projector in Europe in mid-May with an RRP of €2,999. The company has yet to announce plans to launch this model in other markets like North America.
