The Optoma ZK810TST is a new and quite powerful 4K projector, which is now available at B&H Photo Video for just under $15,000. For regular users, cheaper projectors are certainly sufficient in most cases. That said, the ZK810TST has an extremely high brightness for a laser projector, as the manufacturer advertises 8,500 lumens and 7,200 ANSI lumens. This means that the Optoma projector should be well-suited for rooms that are not entirely dark.
The ZK810TST is a DLP projector with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. It's also a short-throw projector with a projection ratio between 0.65:1 and 0.75:1 and a corresponding zoom lens. The projection distance is between 2.3 and 54.5 feet, while the zoom can be adjusted by a little motor. Keystone correction is supported, as is horizontal and vertical lens shift. Three HDMI 2.0 ports plus an additional HDMI 2.0 output are available, and 3D glasses are supported as well. In addition, the projector comes with an RJ45, HDBaseT and RS232 port.
Optoma further advertises a gaming mode with a lower latency that is useful for fast-paced action games. However, the new 4K laser projector weighs a whopping 31.5 lbs, measures roughly 19 x 16 x 7 inches and consumes up to 530 watts. Last but not least, the ZK810TST is IP5X certified and has two built in speakers with 10 watts each, and a remote control is included in the box of this quite expensive projector.
