The Apple HomePad hub appears to have leaked again. Information about the smart home device’s integrated camera and ARM chip was recently spotted in official Apple code linked to iOS 26. Plus, the same report suggests that a second smart product could also be found in this source.

The upcoming Apple HomePad hub has been spotted again. A couple of months ago, it was reported that a HomePod with a square-shaped display was on the way, with the suggestion that it could launch in spring 2026.

Now, Macworld has found code in an apparently official beta version of iOS 26, designed for internal use at Apple, which points to this new smart home hub. Here, the device is referred to with the model number “J490”, which has already been linked to the potential HomePad. The code indicates that the integrated display hub could have an ultra-wide, front-facing camera. It is thought that the camera will offer the Center Stage tracking feature, which might be used during FaceTime video calls. The rumored 1080p camera could also be used for Face ID, bringing a layer of security and to identify who is using the hub, possibly for tailored settings.

The recent report also hints at the use of an Apple A18 ARM chip for the HomePad Hub. As a reminder, earlier information shared by Bloomberg pointed to an approximately 7-inch touchscreen and an integrated speaker. This might mean that the new Apple smart home hub could compete with the likes of the Amazon Echo Show 8 (8-inch version curr. $159.99 at Amazon).

Also spotted in the code was a second, more mysterious smart home device. The product is referred to as model J229, and appears to have an integrated camera, microphone and sensors. This information suggests that the device could be the previously rumored smart security camera or video doorbell. Again, it is thought that this smart home device will be released in spring 2026.
