The current Apple iMac is only available with the Apple M4 processor and a 24-inch display. With this configuration, the all-in-one is aimed almost exclusively at home users, while creative professionals, advertising agencies, and more demanding users are encouraged to purchase the Mac Studio, MacBook Pro or Mac Pro. This is despite the fact that the Apple iMac was practically indispensable in advertising agencies for years.
According to MacRumors, Apple will soon offer an iMac again that is intended for more demanding users. The iMac Pro is set to make a comeback, as MacRumors discovered from the code of an internal Apple kernel debug kit. This code contains references to an iMac codenamed "J833c", which is equipped with a chip codenamed "H17C". According to MacRumors, the H17C is the third iteration of the Apple M5, which will presumably be marketed as the Apple M5 Max. The fact that this reference is already found in Apple's code suggests that this iMac Pro is already being actively tested.
Until now, there have been no concrete rumors about a more powerful version of the iMac. If Apple does release a significantly more expensive all-in-one based on the Apple M5 Max, it's likely that it will feature a completely redesigned architecture with a much more powerful cooling system. Given the expected high price of the Apple M5 Max and the target audience for such a system, it's reasonable to assume that the iMac Pro will be equipped with a larger display, possibly the 27-inch, 120Hz Mini-LED display that is also expected in the Apple Studio Display 2.
