SK Hynix touted LPDDR5T as the fastest ever DRAM for mobile devices on its early 2023 launch. Now, the OEM claims to have verified these claims using MediaTek's next flagship Dimensity-series SoC, slated to launch as the 9300 later this year. Accordingly, smartphones that rock both this processor and the new class-leading RAM are slated to emerge in 2024.

Low-power double data rate (or LPDDR) DRAM for mobile devices was once predicted to be incapable of exceeding its current top speed of 8.5 gigabits per second (Gb/s) per chip until the emergence of LPDDR6, which might not happen until 2026 or later. SK Hynix, however, claimed to have gotten ahead of that new standard, putting the Turbo in LPDDR5T with top "operating speeds" of 9.6Gb/s in early 2023.

Now, the South Korean OEM has collaborated with MediaTek to validate these claims ahead of the new LPDDR variant's official release. The partners have reportedly used the latter's "next-generation Dimensity flagship chipset" (presumably the 9300) in order to verify that it can in fact "utilize 9.6Gb/s memory".

Accordingly, SK Hynix now promises that the smartphone market will see "a range" of new devices with RAM that goes up to that new top speed thanks to their Dimensity 9300 platforms in 2024. The OEM projects that LPDDR5T will make its debut soon, pending the completion of its official JEDEC certification.
