The SK hynix Platinum P41 flagship PCIe NVMe SSD hits Amazon
Two years after the introduction of the Gold P31 SSD family, which arrived as the first one to incorporate 128-layer NAND flash memory, SK hynix is back with the Platinum P41, which brings together 176-layer 3D triple-level cell (TLC) NAND flash memory chips and the in-house Aries controller. This piece of hardware is the first PCIe controller by the brand, and the DRAM buffer present in the Platinum P41 uses SK hynix LPDDR4 memory.
The three drive capacities available, namely 500 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB, come with an impressive sequential read speed of up to 7,000 MB/s. The other figures are just as impressive, with slightly lower values for the 500 GB model: sequential write of up to 6,500 MB/s for the 1 and 2 TB models (4,700 MB/s for the 500 GB one), random read/write IOPS of up to 1,400 K/1,300 K for the 1 and 2 TB models (960 K/1,000 K for the 500 GB model).
With a 5-year warranty, the write endurance is solid: 1,200 TBW for the 2 TB model, 750 TBW for the 1 TB version, and 500 TBW for the most affordable member of the Platinum P41 family. The MTBF value is the same for all models and sits at no less than 1,500,000 hours. The prices are US$104.99, US$149.98, and US$259.98.
Sadly, it looks like the entire initial stock available on Amazon has already been depleted. If you find it anywhere available, feel free to let the others know in the comments section below. Thank you in advance for your contribution!

SK hynix Announces Availability of the PCIe 4.0 “Platinum P41” SSD
Platinum P41 features unparalleled read and write speeds of 7,000MB/s and 6,500MB/s, as well as a new level of power efficiency
Seoul, May 19, 2022 –SK hynix Inc. (or “the company”, www.skhynix.com) today announced availability of the “Platinum P41” PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD that distills technical excellence driven by unmatched speeds and reliability. The Platinum series represents the company’s flagship retail lineup geared towards gamers and content creators looking to turbo-boost PC performance.
Launched as SK hynix's first PCIe 4.0 SSD built with advanced 176-layer NAND flash memory, the Platinum P41 is now available for purchase on Amazon in the U.S. in 500GB, 1TB and 2TB capacity options.
Designed to excel among PCIe 4.0 SSDs, the Platinum P41 offers sequential read speeds up to 7,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 6,500 MB/s with an industry-leading endurance rating of up to 1,200 TBW. The Platinum P41 also provides further assurance of reliability with an SK hynix in-house “Aries” controller, which in itself contributes to the superior read/write speeds.
“We are delighted to introduce the Platinum P41, the first of our Platinum series of SSDs to drive the strongest PCIe Gen4 bandwidth experience for computing needs. P41 also inherits the power efficiency and stability of our existing lineup, keeping with SK hynix’s rich history of delivering excellent solutions for consumer electronics,” Dae Jung Cho, Head of SSD Marketing at SK hynix, said.
Additionally, the Platinum P41 is capable of up to 1,400K IOPS in random reads and up to 1,300K IOPS in random writes, the highest-end throughput on the PCIe 4.0 interface. The P41 undergoes 1,000 hours of high-temperature operating life (HTOL) testing to ensure reliability, where it has achieved an extensive 1.5 million hours in mean time between failures (MTBF).
The Platinum P41 comes with a five-year warranty from SK hynix.
